This project, located in a village of the poor country of Kajiado, seeks proposals for the planning of the new Secondary School at the Iloshon Community in Kenya aside of the La Nostra Africa Onlus association. The goal is to ensure that girls of their community can complete their studies or not have to leave school early. To accomplish this mission, we will build a new Secondary School whose main objective will be to organize sessions specialization, where girls will receive lessons in chemistry, biology, science and agriculture. Outside, the school will have an area for sports, outdoor activities and a playground for girls, which will encourage them to practice physical activities.
The proposal engage with the local community taking into account local customs, traditions and habits. The design project is based on the following criteria providìng a central place of aggregation, good ventilation and spatial continuity between the indood and outdoos activities. Therefore, the central core it is conceived as a open air space protected by a cloister able to carry out various functions such as communication, playground, socialization relax and study. The cloister works as a filter between the environment and the open courtyard equipped with a bench that also acts as a sunshade. The project includes four classrooms (9mx8m), an office, a library, a canteen for students, a kitchen, two laboratories, the outdoors play area, cisterns for rainwater collection and a system of composting latrines.
